

CHURCH REFORM
There can be no unity in the Church without transparency, confession, correction and transformation. The Church cannot simply move on from prior abuses, failures to act or error without confronting and dealing with the truth. Otherwise, the sins of our fathers become our sins, sustained by pride and rooted in stubborn hearts. The sins of our brothers now shared through silent avoidance.

Matthew 4 describes the temptation of Jesus in the Wilderness - the third temptation was offering Jesus "all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor."
When Israel needed a political savior most, Christ refused political power. Why would the Church seek it now?
In Matthew 7: 21-23, Jesus warns, "Not everyone who says to me 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven.. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name... Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you...'"
Jesus was saying that "many" in the Church think they are doing God's will, but Christ isn't in it, and they are not in Christ.
THE PROBLEM WITH CHRISTIAN NATIONALISM
Every child born as an American citizen is endowed with the "unalienable rights" of "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness," and all the rights and privileges guaranteed by the Constitution. If one child eventually chooses to believe in God and follow a particular faith while another child chooses not to, one is no less a citizen than the other. The American character and virtues are present in both children, and the First Amendment promises that the Federal Government will not favor one American child's choice over another.
